King Blue:

King Blue in all of it’s glory…a phenotype from the myco-breeding-maniac himself, Andrew Reed of Mossy Creek Mushrooms … King Blue and our house Blue strain PO-CNS, among several other bag busting oyster strains we stock in our cryo, have become the workhorses of many oyster production farms out there in the world. Yielding anywhere between 3 and 4 lbs per flush on a 10lb block, depending on factors such as temps, substrate composition, moisture content, sterilization method, etc, the wrecking ball blues never fail to produce especially when cycled through a room in alternating weeks or months. One reason to alternate phenotypes through a fruiting room is to combat the doomy forces of bacterial blooms that can build up and attack particular strains causing the formation of bacterial blotch on fruit-bodies, decimating several crop cycles in a row. Proper treatment of water, control over atomization of humidification and daily cleaning practices keep blotch at bay but the cycling of strains can be a great line of defense as well.
