Shiitake: 3790

Since the dawn of block production it seems that 5lb bags of substrate were a lasting standard...but then the XLS bags from Unicorn Bags came into popularity as did the 10 lb block of fruiting substrate. One of the issues with the 10lb block is its combination with shiitake cultivation. One thing we have seen that solves the arm and hand fatigue after a zillion hours of harvesting is cutting a fully browned block of shiitake in half to fruit it...this allows the harvester to set the block on a flat surface for fruit body development and harvesting. Give it a try and let us know how it works for you! In the video above we have our Shiitake strain 3790 on a 10lb block, incubated for 12 weeks, cut in half and fruited!
